Thanks to my brother Dan, SH and I got tickets to the BBC Good Food show in Glasgow, so this morning we hopped on the train to the SECC with rumbling bellies to see what all the fuss was about.
It’s heaven. Stalls and stalls of food offering samples of cakes, biscuits, fish, sausages, olive oils, dressings, ciders, wines, whiskies – you name it. Dan was there working on his Aerolatte stand
, so we said a quick hello and then dashed off to find breakfast which came in the form of a delicious, hot slice of roasted vegetable quiche.
Satisfied for the time being, we bought tickets to go and check out the latest artisanal beers being offered from the Eden Brewery in Fife. Not being a massive beer drinking, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the Oak Wood with Sauternes finish. A really unusual tasting experience! I also enjoyed the porter which had a strong chocolaty flavour – perfect for the coming winter!
We then spent the next hour or so winding our way slowly through the stalls, nibbling a bit here, sipping a bit there. Chocolate macaroons, ginger nut biscuits, garlic infused olive oil, raspberry and ginger crabbies, a beautiful torrontes, a chived cheddar, smoked sausage, Tunnock’s caramel choccies, cheese sticks and a mind blowingly good hot smoked salmon in lemon and chili mayo from the lovely Two Fat Ladies.
We bought some sustenance for Dan – but failed to remember to go back and get ourselves one…FAIL!
Pecan Pie. Amen.
