During a visit to Kos town on our recent trip to Greece we spent a lazy evening taverna hopping, eating fresh seafood and drinking carafes of cheap wine.  It was in the central square that we spotted a bustling bar nestled under leafy groves and decided to have a final night cap. This place seemed popular with the locals, not a stag do or sun burnt tourist in sight.  Establishing ourselves in comfy seats with a prime people watching view, we waited to be served.  Gradually, it dawned on us.  Not a wine, beer, cocktail or even ouzo shot in sight.  It was about 11pm and this packed bar was just a local coffee shop; a spot for the locals to come and catch up on the day’s goings on, over an iced coffee, or delicious hot chocolate.  It made me think that there is nothing like this at home.  No where to while the evening away into the wee hours over a nice green tea, or double espresso.  The placed was PACKED, and everyone was having a great time.  Girlfriends, guys, old couples, familes, workmates.  This is what warm, lazy evenings are about…
