I had a busy day eating my way around Edinburgh yesterday and popped into some old and new favourite spots.

Le Marche Francais (West Maitland Street) is brilliant for lunch or picking up a croissant and OJ for breakfast, although I’m yet to eat dinner there.  The tables are set within the deli selling french food products, cheeses, meats and wine.

Delicious Salade Parisienne – emmental, ham, olives, tomatoes, mushrooms (one of the few places that still appreciates a raw mushroom! – yum) and croutons.

Cheap, yummy, but don’t bother with the French omelettes.

Later on in the day it was time for something sweet (see *Novembooze).  Deli Polonia is a brilliant Polish deli on Leith walk that sells everything for the homesick Polish population.  Also includes a licensed (useless for me, see *Novembooze) cafe.

SH and I opted for Coffee, Lemon Green Tea and Cake , lots of cake.  These cakes are crazy, layers of filo pastry and buttercream, great big slices.  Seriously tasty, but beware of the crashing bloodsugar 30mins later! Beautiful blue patterned china too.

Need to pop back in here in December to buy bottles of Gambrinus, haven’t seen it available anywhere else!
